"The Spirit Takes Flight" is a painting of a patch of ground that "speaks" to me, and hopefully to others as well. It tells the story of an arrow maker... a man who created this tiny "jewel" left lying on the ground. The richly colored plants, pine needles, pebbles, aspen leaves, and butterflies help to create an environment that appears as a "jewel" in itself. The Native American face (perhaps the arrow maker) reminds us of Chief Seattle's words...
"We are a part of the Earth, and the Earth is a part of us."
